6/27/2016

Comments

Since we have moved our store to the farm, we are still working on figuring out our store hours. It is looking like Tuesday - Saturday 10:00 - 4:00 or by appointment will work best for now.  Please check back regularly for updates and for a list of our upcoming events.  We have some new alpaca/merino batts hot off the press and a great selection of felting supplies and beautiful alpaca yarn too.

Interested in an Alpaca Starter Package???  We can help!

Have you always wanted alpacas but are not quite ready for them? We might have a viable option for you. We are planning our 2016 breeding season. Come for a farm visit and we can help you choose a suitable pairing. You will pay for the breeding and the resulting cria is yours. We will keep the little one with mom until it is ready to be weaned. Not sure what you would do with the alpaca fibre, we may have an option for you. We would be happy to buy your graded and classed alpaca fibre by the pound. We are looking for potential alpaca farms to buy fibre from and reducing the number of animals that we have on-site so that we have more time for product development. We take a lot of pride in the care and health of our animals so potential buyers need to do the same. Something to think about!

Weaving Course

6/8/2016

Comments

On June 25th, we are offering a weaving course for beginners at our farm.  Here is a brief autobiography about our instructor Karen Moore.

My first exposure to weaving was a Christmas gift of a pot holder loop loom. I was about 10 years old at the time. In the intervening years I became proficient at sewing, embroidery, counted cross-stitch and needlepoint. I've also completed a number of knitting and crocheting projects.
I took my first weaving lesson in 2010 and haven't looked back. I enjoy every aspect of the weaving process - even the so-called boring bits.  I have travelled to Salt Spring Island B.C. to take a one week weaving course on twills with Jane Stafford, attended the Ontario Handweavers and Spinners conference for the first unit of the OHS Weavers Cerrificate.
My weaving projects have used alpaca, cotton and acrylic yarns. My projects include baby blankets, placemats, runners, scarves, shawls and tea towels.
Passing on my knowledge and enthusiasm for weaving to others gives me great pleasure whether it is through workshops, group or private lessons.
The Karen Moore Weaving Studio is now open.
